4 Days & 3 Nights of Sailing, Snorkeling and Exploring

Four Day sailing vacation

"Has the thought of sailing in the Caribbean always intrigued you? Not sure a whole week on a sailboat is right for your first time?"

A Taste of Sailing

Planning a vacation to the Eastern Caribbean? Has the thought of sailing in the Caribbean always intrigued you, but you are not sure a whole week on a sailboat is right for your first time? The crew of Skipping Stone now offers “A taste of Sailing.”

Come spend four days and three nights aboard Skipping Stone in the Grenadine Islands sailing, snorkeling and exploring the most beautiful archipelago in the Eastern Caribbean.

Your Agenda

Fly into Grenada and take the ferry to Hillsborough, Carriacou, spending a few days on either island before boarding Skipping Stone around 11:00 AM in Hillsborough.

Day one: After boarding Skipping Stone around 11:00 AM in Hillsborough, we'll sail 9 miles to Clifton, Union Island to clear into the Grenadines and then around to anchor in the uninhabited gem of Chatham Bay, with it’s long beach and calm water. A great place for your first snorkel! Dinner in the cockpit of fresh fish, island vegetables, fresh fruit and the beverage of your choice; a perfect end to your first day on a sailing boat.

Day two: Breakfast in the cockpit and a stroll on the beach or a snorkel in the calm waters before setting sail from Chatham for the Tobago Cays around mid-day. A mere two hours under sail and Skipping Stone will drop her anchor in what might be the most beautiful, unspoiled area in the Caribbean. After climbing the hill of Petit Bateau Island for some spectacular pictures of this magnificent area, swimming in the azure waters and lounging around in our spacious cockpit, you will sit down to another quiet dinner under the stars.

Day three: Skipping Stone will remain at anchor in the Tobago Cays until late afternoon, allowing plenty of time to snorkel the reefs and turtle area, explore the other islands of the archipelago and/or just lounge around on Skipping Stone watching the turtles swim past.

Another short sail and Skipping Stone will anchor at Rameau Bay, Canouan Island with just enough time for an interesting snorkel or swim before the usually spectacular sunsets this anchorage affords.

Day four: Now that you’ve had a taste of sailing in small doses, your forth day will be mostly sailing. The 25 miles Skipping Stone needs to cover to get you to the dock in Port Elizabeth, Bequia on time, will be a bit over twice the sailing you’ve done so far each day. No sweat, for you are now seasoned sailors and are ready to venture forth across the ‘big water’! However, we will be sailing in the lee of islands both well known, like Mustique and little known, like Isle Quatre, Skipping Stone will in no way be out in the ocean, but cruising along in relatively sheltered waters. The beat into Admiralty Bay will end this sailing adventure on a high note.

Your ground transportation will await you at the dock, taking you to the hotel of your choice and the rest of your Caribbean vacation.

The same trip can be done in reverse, with slight changes to the route to accommodate the weather.
